Week 26- 6 MONTHS OLD TODAY!!!

Jonathan (right)- 19.2 pounds
David (left)- 16.5 pounds

My little guys are 6 months old today!!!  6 months ago today the Lord brought into the world two very precious little boys that have blessed our lives so much already!  I have to admit, the past 6 months are kind of a blur :).  I'm thankful I started a blog so I can go back and remember those days.

I have a feeling our wii isn't all that accurate with the weighing because honestly David eats more than Jonathan so I don't know how he lost weight and Jonathan gained.  They are both eating so much better.  Sleep wise, not so much.  Jonathan is sleeping fine at night but a lot of times wakes up early from his nap.  David on the other hand wakes up during the night every night and then decides 6am is a good time to start the day (his mother does not agree).  We try to let him cry it out which works sometime but sometimes he wins.  Thankfully Jonathan is a very good sleeper and just keeps on sleeping as his brother cries.  Micah did this around this time too.  I think their gums hurt from teething so it wakes them up and then they decide they're hungry.  With Micah I would feed him in the middle of the night when he woke up.  But then he got used to it and would wake up the same time every night for almost 2 months until we started letting him cry it out and 3 days later he once again slept through the night.  So I figured we'd just start out letting David cry it out so he doesn't get used to being feed in the middle of the night, but so far, it hasn't worked that well.  We will see what we come up with.  This mamma needs her sleep so hopefully we figure something out soon. :)
This past week Steve's grandpa went to be with the Lord.  He was a wonderful man who loved his family very much.  We found out at visitation and the funeral how much he and Steve's grandma brag about their great-grandkids, we had so many people come up to us and tell us how much they had heard about our boys. :)  So cute!  Steve's brother Dan came out for the funeral.  We didn't bring the boys to the funeral so we met at the mall before Dan's flight so he could see them.

Micah and his cousin Bentley had fun just sitting in the cars.  Thankfully they haven't figured out yet that if you put quarters in the car moves. :)

The boys hanging out with Uncle Dan

Micah has discovered how much he likes riding the train at the mall and he talked Grandma into taking him on a ride.

We finally had a nice day where we saw the sun and could go outside.  Here the boys are hanging out outside watching their big brother play.

Playing outside for Micah always involves a ball

Micah had to check up on his brothers from time to time to make sure they were doing alright.

We decided we should take advantage of the nice weather and take a little walk.  Here's our cool stroller.  Micah is a big fan of his seat up front.  I have to say, it's quite a workout pushing over 65 pounds of kids.

David hit a milestone this week, he rolled over! I have yet to actually see him in the act but I've seen the aftermath.  He actually did it the first time while Steve and I were at the funeral, silly boy.  And then he did it again last night.  Here he is afterwards quite proud of himself.

David has started doing this really weird thing with his voice.  It's pretty funny.  Thought you'd enjoy hearing it.

And finally, for your enjoyment, this is what Micah does when he hears music. :)

Fun Food Friday- Banana Bars

Have you ever heard the phrase the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach? :)  Well after I met Steve I quickly learned how much he enjoyed eating so I decided I should show him that I could cook. :)  The first thing I ever made that he had was banana bars.  He was definitely a fan and still is to this day.  So if you're looking for a way to a man's heart, these bars are for you. :)  Enjoy!

Ingredients: Bars- Butter, Eggs, Bananas, Salt, Vanilla, Sugar, Milk & Lemon Juice (or Buttermilk), Flour, Baking Soda;
Frosting- Butter, Cream Cheese, Milk, Vanilla, Powdered Sugar

First off, the recipe calls for 3/4 cup buttermilk.  I really hate buying a whole jug of buttermilk only to use less than a cup.  So a substitute is to add 1 Tablespoon of Lemon juice to 1 cup of milk and let it set for 10 minutes.  And I like my bars really moist, so I use a whole cup instead of just 3/4 cup.

Okay, once you have your "buttermilk" setting, cream together 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup) ...

And 1 1/2 cups of sugar...

Until it is nice and smooth

Add 2 eggs one at a time to the creamed mixture...

And mix until again it is nice and smooth

Mash 3 large bananas

Add the buttermilk...

And mashed bananas to the creamed mixture...

And watch it all mix together :)

In another bowl combine 2 cups of flour...

1/2 teaspoon of salt...

and 1 teaspoon baking soda...

And stir together.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture and mix until combined

Finally, add 1 teaspoon vanilla...

And mix until it is all combined.

Pour the batter into a greased jelly roll pan...

And spread evenly.

Then if there is anything left on the spatula make sure you get every last drop :)

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean.

Micah decided he wanted to help with the dishes.  I wonder if they make kitchen gloves in Toddler sizes. :)

He got bored helping with the dishes.  I continue to wash them and didn't notice how incredibly quiet he had gotten.  Steve came home for lunch and asked if I noticed what Micah was doing.  I look over and see Micah taking all of the Band-Aids out of their wrapper.  Silly boy :)

For the frosting, cream together 3 ounces of softened cream cheese and 1/4 cup softned butter (half a stick)

Gradually add 2 cups of powdered sugar

And mix together until nice and smooth

Add 1 1/2 teaspoons milk...

and 1 teaspoon vanilla...

And mix together for a good 2 minutes until it is smooth and almost fluffy.

Spread the frosting onto the cooled bars.

Delicious!

Week 25

Jonathan (right)- 19 pounds
David (left)- 16.8 pounds

Well, I left off the last weekly blog saying I hoped the rest of us didn't get sick.  A few hours after I posted that I went upstairs to get Jonathan up from his nap and he had thrown up. :(  That night Steve got sick; early the next morning I got sick.  So yeah, only Micah miraculously managed to avoid getting sick.  The twins are still recovering from it, not able to eat what they used to which means they don't sleep quite as long at night.  They also have become quite fussy again.  I feel like every time we get to a good place where they're eating well, sleeping well and happy most of the time, they get sick and we go back to being bad eaters and fussy.  Obviously they are still growing fine so I shouldn't be too worried about their eating, but the fussiness is starting to get to us.  I really think one of the biggest problems is we are stuck inside all day everyday because Spring just will not come!  And if you look at our 10 day forecast you see rain every day!  Boo!  Can you tell I'm getting sick of the weather! :)
Jonathan has become a pro at rolling over.  We can't put him on the floor right after eating because he right away rolls onto his stomach and proceeds to majorly spit up. :)  David is trying really hard to roll over but keeps getting stuck on his side.  He gets really mad when he can't get over onto his stomach.  But he keeps trying so I think he'll get over soon.  Otherwise not much has changed over here.
This was so sweet.  The boys were watching Praise Baby.  Jonathan was crying.  Micah, being the sweet brother he is wanted to comfort his crying brother, but the brother next to him was David and I guess he decided that since they're twins it doesn't matter which one you comfort. :)  So David got the sweet hugs while Jonathan cried.

The boys are really starting to play with one another and it is so cute.   Jonathan is continuing his role as the pushy big brother (it all started on their delivery day when he pushed David out of the way to come out first).  He actually already takes toys away from David.

Both boys do this and it cracks us up.  I think they're trying to sit up or something, or they're just practicing their crunches.

Micah loves helping with the boys.  Here he is helping feed David which let me tell you is no easy task :)
