Fun Food Friday- Oreo Pie

This is seriously the easiest pie you can make.  And oh my goodness, it's absolutely delicious!  Just ask Micah :).  He actually usually helps me make this one, but I made this one for someone in church who had just had a baby so I decided to make it during Micah's nap so he didn't get upset when he didn't get to eat it. :)  So if you are sick of cooking/baking but need to bring a dessert somewhere, just make this one, I promise neither you nor anyone who has to eat this will be disappointed! :)

Ingredients: Oreo Crust (you can go through the trouble of making your own Oreo crust using crushed Oreos and butter, or you can be like me and just buy the premade one :), plus it comes with a nice lid), 2 pkgs Oreo pudding mix, Cool Whip, Milk, Oreos

To a bowl add 2 1/2 cups of cold milk...

And both packages of pudding

Mix for 2 minutes...

It will start to thicken up

Split the cool whip in half...

And add one half to the pudding mix

Fold until all combined

Pour into the crust

And smooth (I always end up with more pudding mix than fits in the crust so I just put that in a cup and have some nice Oreo pudding sometime :))

Cover and refrigerate a couple of hours

Then just top with the rest of the cool whip

And top that with some crushed Oreos

And there you have it, yummy delicious Oreo pie!

Oreo Pie
1 Oreo Crust
2 pkg Oreo pudding mix
2 1/2 cups milk
12 oz. cool whip
6 Oreos, crushed

Mix together the milk and pudding for 2 minutes.  Fold in half the cool whip.  Pour into crust.  Refrigerate for a couple of hours.  Top with remaining cool whip and crushed Oreos.

Fun Food Friday- Pizza Spaghetti Casserole

I will be honest with you, I am not a big fan of Pizza Spaghetti Casserole.  So you may ask why in the world then am I doing a blog on it.  Well, Steve is a huge fan of it, like, it's his favorite dish. :)  I don't like pizza with red sauce and I don't like spaghetti, so I'm thinking that' why this isn't my favorite dish. :)  But if you are like most people in the world and do like pizza with red sauce and spaghetti, then chances are you too will love this dish.  And the fun thing is really you can add whatever "toppings" you want to it.  I put green pepper, onion, ham and pepperoni in because that's what Steve likes (well, he could do without the onion, but since I do eat it, I put it in :)), but if I was making it just for me I'd also add mushrooms and black olives.  Another great thing about this dish is it makes a lot, so it's very easy to just put into 2 pans and freeze one for later.  Or if you have a big crowd to feed you can make the whole thing.  So very versatile :).  I hope you enjoy it!

Ingredients: Rotini Pasta, Spaghetti Sauce, Pizza Sauce, Pepperoni, Ham, Green Pepper, Onion, Ground Beef, Mozzarella Cheese

Add the Rotini to a pot of boiling water and cook for 10 minutes

While that is cooking dice up the green pepper...

And onion...

And add...

to the ground beef.  Cook until the beef is browned

Drain the fat from the beef and return to skillet

Then add some ham...

Pepperoni (I used mini turkey pepperonis)

Spaghetti sauce...

And pizza sauce

Mix together

Then add a little salt and mix it in

When the pasta is done cooking drain the water and return the pasta to the pot

Then add the sauce mixture to the pasta...

and mix until the pasta is nicely coated with the sauce

You can either put all of it into a 9x13 pan or put it in two 8x8 pans
(one for dinner one for the freezer)

Top with grated mozzarella cheese (if you aren't baking it right away wait till it is cooled to put the cheese on so it doesn't start melting)

Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes until it is nice and hot

It goes great with a Deluxe Caesar Salad and Crescent Roll

Micah was a fan

As was Jonathan

And David :)
And Steve really was a fun but he kept his face clean so I didn't take a picture :)

Life with the Bussis'- 12-18-13

Well I can tell that not a lot happened this week as I realized I don't have a lot of pictures. :)  With my new Ipad I have entered the world of Instagram so I take more pictures with my Ipad (if you want to see those my Instagram name is "jabussis").  I will try and be more intentional about taking pictures for my blog but honestly, we spent most of this past week continuing to get over sicknesses and therefore didn't do much worthy of a picture. :).  Thankfully Jonathan and David are completely over whatever stomach bug they had and are pretty much over this nasty cold.  And extra thankful that the rest of us miraculously avoided it!
Steve, Micah and I went to the Christian school's Christmas program last Thursday night.  I realized something that night, I am so not ready for Micah to go to school!  Now granted, he is not yet 3 and it is still 2 1/2 years till he goes to school, but still, I'm not ready for it. :)  I always thought those mothers who cried their child's first day of school were silly, yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be one of those. :)
We had our first Christmas party on Saturday, Steve's Dad's side.  I had baked a dozen big gingerbread men and made a bunch of frosting for the younger kids to decorate- yeah, left them at home!  So my GEMS girls are going to decorate them tonight at their Christmas party :).  But we still had a great time.  Other than that not much else going on over here besides playing and reading and eating and sleeping.  I am happy to say that as of a few hours ago I am all done with my Christmas shopping!  Now the fun part- remembering what I got who and wrapping it all. :)  I'm looking forward to all the festivities in the coming days and getting to spend time with family.  And with that I'll share with you the few pictures I do have :) :
So I am so not a fan of snow.  But I do have to say that one of the things I think is so cool about snow is how if the moon is big it makes it light when it's really dark outside.  This picture was taken at 11:00pm.  I know, crazy!  I had to hold my camera so very still and the shutter stayed open for about 8 seconds, but what a cool picture!  The lights in the background are from a car that happened to go by right at that moment.

My silly boys.  They enjoyed their dinner this night

Play time with Daddy

Jonathan loves jumping on you if you're laying on the floor

I knew they were feeling better when they once again started getting into everything they weren't supposed to :)

Since we didn't get to decorate these Saturday night at our party (since I forgot them at home) Micah and I decorated one Sunday after lunch

Silly boys

Micah got a Santa hat at Storytime at the library show I taught him what Santa says:

I hope that you all have a wonderful week getting ready for the celebration of our Savior's Birth!!!
