Fun Food Friday- Monster Cookies

First off, I meant to put this in my blog on Wednesday.  We have our first sprouts for our garden!!!  Awhile back I had gotten a tomato and strawberry kit where it comes with the seeds and a small pot to start it out in.  Our tomato plant is the lucky winner for showing us there is life in that dirt.  Here Micah is showing off the product of our labor:
So that's that, now on to Fun Food Friday :)

You would never know it from looking at him, but Steve loves snacks. :)  He doesn't like it when I don't have sweets in the house for him to snack on.  We had finished off our Éclair dessert from last week and didn't have anything sweet for snacks, so Micah and I decided it was time to make some cookies for Daddy (and us too :)).  These are one of my favorite cookies.  I got the recipe from my mother-in-law and they make a lot of cookies.  And I think it produces Micah's favorite cookie dough yet because it has "M Ms" in them which are pretty much his favorite thing (we can't figure out if it's because they're really his favorite to eat or they have the first letter of his name on them).

Ingredients: Butter, White Sugar, Brown Sugar, Quick Oats, Peanut Butter, Baking Soda, Eggs, Vanilla, M&Ms, Chocolate Chips

In a mixing bowl cream together a stick of softened butter...

1 1/2 cups of brown sugar...

and one cup of white sugar

Make sure you tap out every last bit of sugar :)

And make sure you have your spatula ready

Add 3 eggs to the creamed mixture

And mix until nice and smooth

Add 4 1/2 cups of quick oats...

2 teaspoons of baking soda...

and 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter

Mix until all ingredients are incorporated

Then add 1 teaspoon of vanilla

And mix again (this is a great time to clean off your spatula)

Oh, this boy loves making cookies (i.e. eating cookie dough)

Then add 1 cup of chocolate chips...
(notice Micah never lets the spatula out of his hand)

And 1 cup of M&Ms

Give it a quick mix

Drop onto a cookie sheet (I used the medium size cookie scoop, these cookies are meant to be big)

While I was scooping Micah was picking the M&Ms out of the batter, silly boy

Bake the cookies at 325 for about 15 minutes or until just golden brown

This sight made Steve very happy when he walked in for lunch :)

These cookies also make great gifts (since the recipe makes so many).  Just put a few cookies on a plate, put the plate on two pieces of plastic wrap crisscrossed...

Pull put the plastic wrap, tie with a ribbon, and there you go, a very happy piano student that she came on the same day you made a lot of cookies :)

  1. Oh those look really good!!! Since it appears that you have polished off the Chocolate Eclair dessert before I got there....maybe there will be a cookie or two left by the time I arrive next Tuesday. Haha!!! If not, it's not a problem - I have 3 of my little sweethearts waiting for some California grandma hugs and spoiling....that's better than any dessert. Although, sharing a monster cookie with MIcah would make it even better!!! :-)

  2. So do you think they ship very well? Hahaha! It would probably be easier to just make them myself :) And I need to get one of those measuring cups that you used for the peanut butter! So much easier than using a normal measuring cup.
