Jonathan showing off his moves :)
And David wants it :)
David was in quite the serious mood

It is so hard to believe that in 3 weeks my little guys turn 1!!! They really are just so much fun. A lot of work, yes, but also just a joy to have in our lives. We had a wonderful time in California and I feel like the twins developed so much just in the 2 weeks we were there. Jonathan can now stand on his own for about 15 seconds (or until he realizes he's doing it :)). And just today David started standing on his own for a few seconds. They both definitely have mastered the stairs. They are not happy to be home again and have a gate on the stairs so they don't get to practice that talent as often as they like. :) And both are experts at cruising (moving along furniture) and walking behind something like a walker toy, a toddler train, or a trash can (mostly Jonathan would walk while pushing the trash can at my parents' house and he now does it at home too). On the trash can note, Jonathan is fascinated with it. Wants to push it around, open it, and even take thrown away food out of it and try to eat it. Yes, I know, disgusting! Our trash can ends up in the bathroom with the door shut a lot. :)
We feel like Micah has also grown up a lot in the last couple of weeks especially. Steve commented yesterday to me that it seems right that Micah is almost 3, he's acting like it. His vocabulary has definitely come a long way. And he repeats almost everything you say, so you really have to be careful what you say around him. For instance, Micah is constantly saying "What?" It gets very annoying. So we've started saying to him after he says what "don't say what, you heard me." So the other day Steve, Micah and my Dad went for a bike ride and at one point I guess Steve burped so he said to Micah "Micah, was that you who burped?" and Micah said "No it was Daddy" to which Steve responded "What?!" to which Micah responded "Don't say what, you heard me!" :) Needless to say, Steve laughed pretty hard. We'll have to stop saying that to him by the time he goes to Sunday School. :) He also has started calling things cute. He went with my parents to Costco to get ice cream (this is a daily thing for my dad :)) and on the way home he told my parents he thought the moon was cute. Then on the plane he told me the clouds were cute. He's sitting by me right now and Steve got a long-sleeve shirt for him to put on to go outside and he said "Mommy, my shirt is cute." He has also started calling David and Jonathan "honey." He really is a funny boy. Although if you ask him if he is funny or silly his response is "No, Micah trouble." :)
And now for picture overload from the rest of our vacation:):
Steve got to go golfing a couple of times. One of the times he went with my dad and brother Rob to one of his favorite courses out there:
On Thursday we went to the Aquarium of the Pacific. Micah loves the show
Octonauts on the Disney Channel. He learns all about ocean creatures on it so we thought he'd enjoy seeing them in person. We were right :)
Watching the sea lions and seals show
The twins hung out in their stroller the whole time and were very good
Checking out the sting rays. Micah didn't want to touch them, I did, oh boy are they slimy!
Micah was pretty excited to find Nemo :)
We packed a lunch and ate it outside the aquarium
These fish were huge
I asked my dad to crouch down to Micah's level so I could take a cute picture of the two. Then I told Micah to sit on his leg. Oh no, Micah had to crouch down just like Grandpa :)
Checking out the seals
Does this boy look likes he's having fun or what!
And then this was his favorite part, getting to spray water :)
Checking out the seals and sea lions one more time
My three very good boys
We get quite the looks wherever we go :) I also get a lot of "Oh, you must be one busy mommy" :)
No trip to California is complete without a trip to In-N-Out
However Micah could care less about the incredibly delicious burgers, he just wanted to eat his Mac-N-Cheese outside :)
And this is why we go- in addition to the delicious burgers they have these amazing Animal-style French Fries! Don't worry, Steve and I share them :)
Grandma and Jonathan
Fun times at Grandpa and Grandma's
We spent a lot of time in the big pool. Micah loved swimming by himself and then he decided he should get in the baby boat. :) Silly boy
The twins enjoyed their time in their shaded rafts. It was pretty hot while we were there, so it was great to hang out in the pool
The next pictures show you how awesome Steve is at diving :):
He also likes to have you throw a football at him while he jumps in. This was the best shot I could get at it. It's very difficult to throw a football and take a picture at the same time. He really did catch the ball every time I gave him a good throw. :)
David and Jonathan have become quite the food beggers
Eating his lunch while we waited to get on our plane
Micah was very excited to see a plane up in the air at the Denver airport
His favorite part of the airports was the moving walkways. We had to go on every one we passed :)
The boys getting some energy out before we got on our flight from Denver to Grand Rapids. I wish I could say it got all their energy out so they took a good nap on the 2 hour flight, but I can't. None of them slept any of that two hours even though the twins were exhausted and really just needed to sleep. Instead they cried for at least half the flight. It was not fun, at all. I felt very bad for the people around us, but they were all very gracious. Needless to say, we were very happy to get off that plane. :)
And now it's back to reality :). We had such a great time on vacation. It was so nice to have help with the boys all the time, it really did feel like a vacation. Thank you so much Mom and Dad for letting us stay with you for 2 weeks and loving our boys so much! It was so much fun to get to watch you with my boys! I hate all the miles between us but I'm so thankful for airplanes and vacation time to give us time together!
Now that we're home the boys have to get used to not having someone's attention at all times. :) And I'm getting used to having to take care of them by myself during the day again. :) Just today I've already changed 7 diapers (3 smelly :)). :)
But they are so worth is, I mean, look how cute that face is :)
The twins love climbing on Micah
After I took the twins weekly picture Micah insisted that he needed his picture taken :)
